April 14, 2015

Fascinated with the Gold iPhone? Well, get over it already as the gold version of MacBook is here! Yes, Apple has come out with what it claims to be the thinnest and the lightest MacBook, ever. It’s not only thinner and lighter but is also more gorgeous than any Mac you have ever seen before. This new device from the company was announced in San Francisco on 9th March as Tim Cook joked “It is unbelievable! Can you even see it?” It sure is a product that you wish to see sitting on your lap as soon as it is made available.

New Macbook

We live in a world where the lighter phones, lighter tablets and lighter laptops are more of a fad than a new Louis Vuitton bag. So it’s only natural for consumers to totally want this MacBook as it first hits the market. We all know that Apple products sell like hotcakes and we have no reason to believe things will be different this time around. Afterall, the new MacBook sports impressive specs and ofcourse, brilliant looks. The body of this device is tapered much like MacBook Air but is 24% thinner than the 11 inch Air model. The device weighs 2 pounds and is 0.5 inch at its thickest. It comes in three colors-gold, silver and gray. The 12 inch MacBook is so thin that it doesn’t sport the traditional USB port, leave alone the CD port.

Launched alongside the new Apple Smartwatch, Apple’s thinnest MacBook sports a Retina Display screen which provides a resolution count of 2304×1440 pixels. This device is also the first MacBook which comes in an all-metal enclosure. There is a new and interesting feature associated with this product and that is called ‘Force Touch Trackpad’. This trackpad powers interactively with the help of the built-in force sensors. This feature allows the users to click anywhere on the screen and this leads to haptic feedback leading to a quicker response from the device. Part of this Force Touch feature is the Force Click which allows the users to press a little harder on the trackpad so that more options can pop up.

Coming to the processor of the new 12 inch MacBook, the device is powered by a new fifth generation Intel Core M processor which runs on 5 watt Intel HD Graphics 5300. The device is packed in with 8 GB of internal storage space with two processor options-1.1 GHz Intel Core M processor and 1.2 GHz Intel Core M processor. Another noteworthy feature about this product is the reinvented keyboard. The device comes with a new full size keyboard which is about 34 percent thinner than the previous models. This keyboard utilizes ‘’Butterfly Mechanism” which ensures precision on every key. This means that no matter where you click, the keyboard will ensure a proper precision. Under each key, there are steel dome switches placed which enhance the overall user experience while they are typing. Each of the keys also contains its own LED backlight for the brightness.

Another change that you might notice in this device is the fact that it has no fan. Yes, you read that right. Apple has removed the fan from this new notebook which not only gives a very efficient performance but also a silent one. This also creates a compact logic board and takes away the bulk from the processor. The logic board in this device is about 67% smaller than the one present in the previous version of the MacBook. Since there is no fan, the logic board contains only compacted batteries to improve the overall power of the device.

This 12 inch device from Apple has introduced a brand-new feature which is its support of the novel industry standard of connectivity which is known as USB-C. This USB-C is one-third smaller than the regular USB ports and supports higher wattage charging. This is a much more user friendly port, as claimed by Apple. The new MacBook is bundled inside with OS X Yosemite which is a modern version of OS X featuring Continuity. The device also promises 9 hours of wireless web browsing, thanks to the newer and better batteries.

Apple’s 12 inch MacBook has been priced at $1299 for the 1.1 GHz dual Core Intel Core M processor with 256 GB flash drive model and $1599 for the 1.2 GHz dual Core Intel Core M processor with 512 GB flash drive model. The product is a little pricier than the previous models but that it not something which will deter Apple fans from buying it.
